New Shit
Scary Bad Guys
betas and boredom

While a few of us retain active accounts the majority of the guild have quit darkfall due to the neverending grind, dwindling population and increasingly zerg nature of the remaining playerbase coupled with patches that take several months to come out.

As such the guild as a whole is entering a semi dormant phase of play random garbage for a few weeks until getting bored and moving along to the next one. so far we have tried all points bulletin (fucking horrible) and dawntide (words do not describe how far beyond horrible) i will probably be ranting in more detail about how shitty both of these games are at some point in the near future.

in the meantime i am getting caught up on backlogged darkfall content and you can currently find two new darkfall episodes in our section as well as a video in the video section.

expect 1 - 2 new darkfall episodes a week until i am caught up (around 10 or so to go)

Still Ticking

It has been several months since our last frontpage update, the reason for that is quite simple. we are still playing darkfall and as anyone who is familiar with this site and me knows there is a strong tendecy for nothing to get updated until i get bored.

I do however have a ridiculous amount of darkfall episode material to put up one rainy day.

Despite many, many and many more problems with the game (some of which have been fixed, some made worse and some left as they always were) darkfall continues to have a healthy playerbase and to be an overall enjoyable game to play.

The first big "expansion" patch a few months ago added some quality features, and a major patch since has done much to eliminate the mindless finger bleeding grind that darkfall became notorious for.

In the coming weeks at the same time as the next content adding "expansion patch" tranfers from the online equivalent of a barren, diseased, third world wasteland (eu1) will be opened. The north american server population is expected to explode as inactive subscriptions are renewed and everyone flees en masse to the low ping promised land of na1 leaving behind 3 dozen pompous american hating european shitbags to discuss the merits of socialism and effeminate pacifism with one another.

Hopefully aventurine can keep it together and get their game where it needs to be, in any case good or bad we will be here so long as the game maintains a healthy population and we have people to kill.

The downward spiral continues

Darkfalls descent into failure has continued full speed ahead since my review, some things have gotten better and twice as many have gotten worse.

Seemingly each new patch makes it harder for new players to get established in the game, the past few weeks has seen server lag for me and most others i know about 30% worse than usual, the playerbase is a third or less of what it was at launch and there is very little pvp of any kind except between large zergs in and around player city sieges, and even this is much less frequent than it was.

Aventurine announced they plan to have a north american server launched in july (weeks away, and months to late) but following their standard protocol have provided no further information except that transfers will be allowed to happen one day. this has essentially put the nail in the coffin of the EU-1 server as the majority of north american guilds unsure how long they will have to wait to transfer have stopped playing until the new server, many others have simply quit outright pissed off for one of dozens of valid reasons. this creates a vanguard situation where the remaining players even if they like the game are now also quitting out of the boredom that a small playerbase creates.

in nine days mortal online is opening up sales of ten thousand pre orders for their game and each purchase will be accompanied by a beta account which will be accessible starting on july 6th, many darkfall guilds are now all over the mortal online boards doing pre release recruiting for that game. needless to say the launch of mortal online later this summer (even if mortal online ends up sucking just as bad) will destroy the already decaying darkfall playerbase and the damage will most likely be irrepairable.

it continues to amaze me how people with very little vision, foresight or common sense manage to convince investors to give them millions to turn out a shit product and continue to make it shittier until any hope of recouping their costs is gone.

so on that note, who wants to play mortal online?
